MAGIC KINGDOM TRANSPORTATION: EXPLAINED!

The Magic Kingdom transportation system can be very confusing for first-timers. How do I know which form of transportation to use to get there? We've got you covered! Let's take a look at all the ways to get to and from this park.

First, to get a better understanding up front, let's take a look at the whole map of the Magic Kingdom area, including resorts and parking:

There are five ways to get to MK:

bus,

monorail,

boat,

walking,

and by driving your own vehicle

Take a look below at where all the entrances are for those transportation modes. This way, you can know where you'll end up around the Magic Kingdom Entrance, and where you'll go to exit the park as well:

MAGIC KINGDOM PARKING:

Don't see parking on that map? Well, that's because driving to Magic Kingdom is a whole other ballgame!

Let's take a look first at how to drive to Magic Kingdom, and where/how to park.

OK, So...Park ---> TRAM ---> Ticket and Transportation Center. Now that you've arrived, you can choose your way to get into the park: 1. The Ferry Boat or 2. The Express Monorail!

MAGIC KINGDOM MONORAIL SYSTEM:

The monorail system is an incredible way to get around the Magic Kingdom resort area! Let's take a closer look at the TWO different monorail lines and what they mean:

So, when heading into or out of the park when you have driven to MK, you'll always want to take the EXPRESS monorail.

If you're staying at a Magic Kingdom resort hotel, OR you're dining at one of them, you'll want to take the RESORT monorail.

MAGIC KINGDOM BUS SYSTEM:

Are you not staying near Magic Kingdom but still on Disney property? It's likely you'll be taking the BUS to Magic Kingdom! You'll be dropped off right at the gate and will get to bypass the Ticket and Transportation Center, so taking the bus is always a great option! Let's learn a bit more below:

MAGIC KINGDOM BOAT SYSTEM AND WALKING TO MAGIC KINGDOM:

There are a few select resorts near the park that allow you to utilize the boat system when traveling to Magic Kingdom! Boats run every 15-20 minutes from those resorts and are dropped off near the front entrance of the park.

Staying at Grand Floridian or Contemporary Resorts? Walking is an option for you when thinking of how to get to MK.


Let's take a walk from the Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom together! It's a great perk when you stay at Grand Floridian if you'd like an alternative way to get to Magic Kingdom, or if you're dining at Grand Floridian.

FROM EPCOT:

Monorail to Ticket and Transportation Center ---> change monorails ---> EXPRESS monorail to MK

FROM Disney's Animal Kingdom:

Bus to MK

FROM Disney's HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS:

Bus to MK

FROM Disney SPRINGS:

Bus to a resort (such as Contemporary or another monorail resort) ---> Resort monorail to MK. Another option is Bus to your resort, then go from there!

FROM TYPHOON LAGOON/BLIZZAED BEACH:

Bus to resort ---> then to MK. Same situation as coming from Disney Springs :)
